Cottage 1

Stunning, rural location with everything close to hand. Any day - any day changeovers, just ask! (the cottages are behind the main priory building - photos to follow soon)

New for 2008 is this recent renovation of old farm buildings to create two lovely cottages in classic, rural English countryside.

The cottages are to be finished to an excellent standard with high ceilings that enhance the quality and style (some furnishings have already been bought which we have seen). Light and airy throughout with soft lighting, squishy sofas and pretty soft furnishings.  The bespoke kitchens have granite work tops and natural wood has been retained wherever possible. Each cottage has a mezzanine 'studio'  (with sofa bed) which is accessed via space-saving stairs.

In this cottage an interesting feature is the large, original fireplace has been incorporated into the cottage design and current life-style.  French doors lead out to a private terrace and to the huge garden - ideal for the kids and dogs (please note, there are friendly resident dogs) to have a great time! There is a private terrace/patio for each cottage; the garden is for everyone to enjoy although it is not entirely separated from the cottage next door, the whole garden area is enclosed from the farm.  Garden furniture and bbq provided.  Guests are welcome to wander through the grounds - please note, there is a pond near to the main house of which parents should be aware.

The cellar, with flag-stone floor and stone pillars, lends itself well to the new games room that has been equipped with a full size snooker table. This is located just across the courtyard from the cottages, along with the utility area.

The Priory originates from the 12th Century and is in the centre of the historic-cultural triangle of Oxford , Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon (all about a 30 minutes drive).  The main house is now a family home on this working farm; it is an imposing property built in the honey coloured stone that is indigenous to the area with chapel windows and vaulting in the cellar. Surrounded by paddocks, home to event horses, and gently rising farmland in all directions.  The Oxford Canal runs along the bottom of the valley and through the pretty village of Cropedy with a local pub that was converted from three workers cottages in the 17th Century.  Banbury is about 6 miles away for local shops and the Castle Quay shopping mall.

Plenty to see and do; Blenheim Palace , Warwick Castle, Sulgrave Manor, Heritage Motor Museum etc , etc, etc – there is heaps of choice!   Or perhaps stay ‘at home’ on the farm to enjoy the country walks, the games room and fishing.   Stabling for horses can also be arranged.

This is a very friendly, welcoming spot for a rural holiday.
