Neatly tucked away, Sackville House is a cottage in the true sense of the word; great character in the stone work, masses of exposed beams, thick old Cotswold stone walls and below the stairs is an old Priesthole where you can sit and enjoy a quiet moment or two. (please note, the stairs to the Priesthole have been gated as they are steep) Furnished and styled in keeping with a traditional cottage, the rich colours and rustic charm create a warm 'lived-in' welcome that blends with the quality furnishings and well equipped kitchen. The wood burner adds to the charm and sits nicely with the up-to-the-minute Plasma TV so you can spoil yourself with a taste of the old and the new. The cottage is accessed by a few stone steps to its elevated position above the River Coln, a shallow rippling trout stream, which can been seen from all windows. The small courtyard terrace catches the evening sun - great spot to enjoy a glass of something chilled! Bibury is a beautiful village of great history and interest; Arlington Row originally dating to 1380; Arlington Mill of the 17th Century; the trout farm; the River Coln; the Saxon church of St Mary. There is a local pub with a bar and restaurant in Bibury as well as hotels for fine dining. Midway between Burford and Cirencester, Bibury is central for touring the Cotswolds. Oxford, Bath and Cheltenham are all easily accessible. Non smokers only please.
