We love this one.....a gorgeous traditional Cotswold stone cottage.

Originally part of the Blenheim Palace Estate dating to the 1800's with a sympathic addition now the kitchen/dining room. Tewer Cottage has recently been refurbished to a very high standard to providing a superb blend of classic and contemporary styles.  The welcoming sitting room has flag stone floors, beams and inglenook fireplace with a wood burner; the large kitchen/dining room has tip-top alliances, a rustic table that can very comfortably seat 6 and French doors for a bright and sunny aspect.

The small garden is enclosed - children and pets very welcome; there is a terrace with patio seating and parking for 2 cars.

Stonesfield is mentioned in the Domesday Book when it was named Stunsfeld (meaning "fools field"). This was because of the stony nature of the soil in the area. Before 1900 Stonesfield was principally a farming and slate mining village. Stonesfield limestone slate is commonly seen on the roofs of the Cotswolds and the Vale of White Horse.  At the centre of Stonesfield stands a 13th century church, St James the Great, whose bell tower is clearly visible above the surrounding buildings. There is also a Methodist chapel.  The village has a thriving community and excellent facilities with shops that include  a post office, farm shop, hairdresser and general stores. Less than a mile from Stonesfield (at East End) there is an excavated Roman villa with full public access.

Stonesfield is surrounded by very beautiful countryside, with the River Evenlode running close by and The Oxfordshire Way for fabulous Cotswold walks. Just a few miles to the Blenheim Palace estate and a short distance from Oxford, Witney and Burford.  A bit further afield, Chipping Norton and Stratford Upon Avon are well worth a visit.

The cottage is tucked away on a very quiet lane with no-through traffic just a few mintues walk to the local shop and pub so ideal for a total chill-out time or as a lovely 'home' to return to after a busy touring day!
