Charlwood is a detached, Cotswold-style house in the (mainly) 16th Century hamlet of Kineton, perched above the River Windrush between Stow-on-the-Wold and Cheltenham.
An elegant and stylishly furnished house with a great kitchen that has very modern appliances - large induction hob, steam oven and traditional oven, American fridge/freezer etc. The kitchen occupies part of the green oak and glass orangerie to the rear of the house and combines as a family room with a TV and comfy seating; it has two sets of glazed double doors that open to an outdoor eating area and barbeque for summer dining. The house has three double bedrooms, two bathrooms and a downstairs cloakroom - quite a find in the Cotswolds!
An ideal retreat for a perfectly relaxing break as the house is not overlooked and is very quiet. The view from the back of the house is over the Windrush Valley and your 'disturbances' will be the buzzards, many local birds, visiting wildlife and the sound of the river....lovely! The view at the front is over a private lane to a 16th Century farmhouse. Kineton has no street lighting which makes for excellent star gazing on a clear night.
In the hamlet is a local pub serving pub food and good local beers and ciders; further afield are several excellent gastropubs and good restaurants. If required, some catering can be provided at Charlwood. Village shops in nearby Guiting Power and Temple Guiting, supermarkets in Stow and Cheltenham. For organic tastes, Daylesford is about a 20 minute drive.
You can walk or cycle from the property in this very rural area with some quite stunning walks on the small tracks and pathways (including one at the bottom of the garden); the Cotswolds Way, Wardens Way and Diamond Way are all close by.
There is easy access to Cheltenham with its Georgian architecture and festivals as well as the famous horse races - for racing enthusiasts Charlwood is mid-way between the yards of Jon Jo O'Neill and Nigel Twiston-Davies. There are local festivals including the music festivals at Naunton and Guiting Power as well as the opera festival in Longborough. The village is cosseted in some of the Cotswolds most beautiful countryside with neighbouring villages such as the Slaughters, Stanway, Snowshill, Broadway, Chipping Campden, Bourton-on-the-Water etc etc! Slightly further away are Stratford-upon-Avon, Tewkesbury and the Malvern Hills for perfect day trips.
This spacious holiday home has something for everyone!
