Stunning rural property, with a stylish minimalist aesthetic, set close to the owner’s home, and yet still affording guests a high level of privacy in the midst of the surrounding woodland.

This property enjoys a fantastically secluded rural location in the grounds of the artist owners’ property in the beautiful Shropshire countryside. The location makes it ideal for those who want to escape the stresses and strains of daily life and decompress on quiet country walks in the surrounding hills. Clee Hill is within walking distance of the property, offering breath-taking views over the surrounding area. Just a few miles away, the town of Ludlow, famed for its food festival, is a wonderful place to spend a day browsing the shops, admiring the Georgian architecture (the town has over 500 listed buildings), and sampling the food in the town’s many highly-regarded restaurants and bistros.

Approaching this property along the farm track, gives guests a taste of what is to come: a secluded countryside retreat with a unique charm, where the rural surroundings are made, very much, a part of the overall experience. On entering the property, across the terrace and through the glass double doors, guests come straight to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, a light-filled space with a stylish minimalist air. The corner sofa makes a great place to relax in front of the TV and cosy wood burner, and enjoy the views out to the paddock, or perhaps catch up on a long-awaited book with a glass of wine. The dining table comfortably seats four, whilst the kitchen which runs along one edge of the room, is well-equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and washing machine. The bedroom, a double room, is a breath-taking sanctuary-like space, which, thanks to its huge floor-to-ceiling windows, creates the sensation that guests are sleeping right under the trees. The shower room, with its walk-in shower and WC, also benefits from a tall window, allowing guests to feel that much closer to nature.

Outside, the property has a raised decked terrace with garden furniture, providing guests with the perfect spot to enjoy al fresco drinks whilst listening to the breeze in the trees and watching the many fascinating birds and squirrels who come to feed. The owners also have an enclosed paddock next to the property, which contains some of the owner’s large sculpture work, which guests are free to use. In addition to this, guests are able to enjoy the surrounding woodlands. There is off-road parking provided.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Our booking was very straightforward and we received acknowledgement and directions promptly. The sixty photos of the Artists Retreat had given us a good idea of what to expect, but the reality was even better. We'd looked at so many pictures of holiday lets which were either modern and fussy with hearts and fairy lights or furnished with junk shoRead morep furniture in lurid colours. The Artists Retreat offered something different: an aesthetic of classic simplicity. We loved the situation, the furnishings, and the shower. The kitchen equipment was of good quality and adequate for our needs. We appreciated the top sheet on the bed: so often we've been faced with duvets which are too warm with no alternative. The picture window from the bedroom was amazing. The glow from the log burner, the bottle of wine and the electric blanket were all part of the warm welcome we received from Mrs Cox and we appreciated her checking during the week that all was well. Most of all, we enjoyed sitting on the patio at the lovely table listening to the bees, birds and sheep and soaking up the peace. We went on holiday looking for a time of rest and restoration and found it here in generous measure. Don't change a thing! Hide

I get the feeling that the main aim here is one's comfort and enjoyment. Wonderful welcome, no "rules" and even the animals settled in and made themselves at home immediately. The owners were so patient and kind to my old, blind, deaf dog who thought he was entitled to go walk about and needed a bit of guidance to get back to the cottage. We did venture out to Ludlow and the Live and Let Live at Neen Sollars (great pub) but other than that we were just too comfortable to leave. Although it was not our first visit we will be back again and again. THANK YOU! Hide

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Artists Retreat. The property was as described and the owner very courteous and helpful. Just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time we had at the Artists Retreat. Judy and Stephen were wonderful hosts and the property itself is amazing. My wife absolutely fell in love with the floor to ceiling picture window looking from the bedroom into the woods. It was so calming to see all the birds come to the feeders hanging from the treeRead more (and our dog loved it too!). The tranquility of the area is great, and we were fortunate enough to talk to Stephen about his artwork and thinking process. Its rare to get the luxury of chatting with one of the UKs most significant sculptors! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be coming back again as soon as we can! Many thanks for a great break. My wife and I spent three days at Artist's Retreat near Cleobury Mortimer. It was the perfect place on many accounts. The owner made us feel very welcome. the building has been converted from a blacksmith's forge. Modernisation has ensured comfortable living with a well-equipped kitchen, expansive suite and wood burning stove. Garden birds love the feeders and we were entranced by the antics of a huge range, including woodpeckers, finches and nuthatch. The battles between the squirrels and the birds was fascinating. Such was the spectacle, that it provided every excuse for a lazy lie in! The narrow roads leading to the property offer a great degree of privacy. Shropshire is the most beautiful county and a short drive from the property allowed stunning views across three counties and a range of hills. With Ludlow close by, there are many places to visit and an excellent range of restaurants and pubs........ We will be returning Hide
