Steeple Astony is a Buckinghamshire village close to Bicester. Designated a conservation area in 1988, the village sits in the Cherwell River Valley. There are many woodland walks and the views across the water meadows is quite special with plenty of wildlife in the gardens and by the riverside. The village pub, the Red Lion offers real ale, fine wines and good local food. Bicester is a delightful town brimming with pretty streets lined with original half-timbered buildings that remain from hundreds of years ago and surrounded by beautiful countryside. The historic nature of the town provides an abundance of places of interest to visit, a good place to start is with a trip to the 17th century Dovecote, St Edburg’s Church built in 1104 and the Old Priory and Old Vicarage built around 1500 making it Bicester’s oldest house.
