Delightful property set within spacious gardens, located at the foot of Long Mynd in the beautiful Shropshire Hills, ideal for enjoying a rural break in stunning countryside surroundings.

This property is located within the Shropshire Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, set against the stunning backdrop of Long Mynd, an imposing heath and moorland plateau, which is maintained by the National Trust. Of course, there are plenty of scenic country walks to be enjoyed in the local area, but for guests who want to explore more of the area’s culture and history, there is plenty to see and do. The property is located in a tiny hamlet of around ten properties, but the nearby village of Wentnor offers a pub and convenient village shop, whilst the town of Craven Arms is around a twenty-minute drive away, offering an interesting array of shops and eateries.

Before you even enter this property, you will be able to immediately get a sense of just how special it is. Once inside, you will come to the spacious hallway, beyond which is the kitchen/diner, an impressively large space with two separate dining tables seating a total of fourteen guests. The kitchen itself is well-equipped with a double electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine, radio, and CD player. The first of the property’s lounges is located past the kitchen/diner, and is a lovely light-filled room with large windows overlooking the garden, complete with comfortable seating, and a TV/DVD. A second lounge, in the form of a cosy snug room, can also be found on the ground-floor, and thanks to the sofa bed this can be converted into another bedroom, allowing the property to accommodate up to twelve guests (please note that there is a small supplement payable for parties of eleven or twelve guests). Two of the property’s bedrooms are located on the ground floor: a twin room and a double, next to which is a bathroom. Stairs from the lounge lead to two more of the property’s bedrooms: a stunning king-size room with a balcony overlooking the garden, as well as an en-suite bathroom. Opposite this room is a restful single bedroom, which benefits from an en-suite shower room with WC. At the other end of the house, there are two further sets of stairs leading from the entrance hall. One of these is a short flight which leads to another double and a twin room, as well as a bathroom. The second set of stairs leads to what is, perhaps, the house’s most impressive room: a huge 35 feet wide lounge/family room with an impressive vaulted ceiling and beams, an extensive library of books, table tennis, and a beautiful grand piano. This magnificent room is overlooked by a lovely galleried mezzanine area where guests will find a wind-up gramophone accompanied by a selection of 78 RPM records.

Outside, the property enjoys extensive gardens and orchards, as well as a terraced seating area perfect for al fresco dining. There is garden furniture provided, as well as a BBQ, parasols, a croquet selection, garden games, and even a timber Wendy house. There is parking for up to six cars, both on the driveway and in roadside parking bays.

  • 6 bedrooms: 1 king-size, 2 doubles, 2 twins, and a single, plus additional snug room which can be made up as a single room on request
  • 4 bathrooms: 1 bath and WC, 1 shower over the bath, en-suite bathroom to the king-size room with shower over the bath and WC and en-suite shower room with WC to the single room
  • TV and DVD in the ground-floor lounge and snug.
  • Gramophone with selection of 78 RPM records
  • Wi-Fi available, though can be erratic
  • Double electric oven, gas hob, microwave, coffee machine, fridge/freezer, washing machine, and dishwasher
  • Bed linen, electric, towels, and heating included
  • Children can be accommodated at a ratio of 2 children per adult
  • Pub within walking distance.
  • Shop 15 min drive
  • Regret no pets
  • Parking for up to 6 cars (driveway and roadside bays)
  • Arrival 4pm

The old stables was just perfect for our family pre Christmas get together. We settled in so quickly. Our real Christmas tree from home looked stunning in the hall and was worth the effort getting it in the car! The children hung up stockings on the stairs and it was just magical in the morning with all the opening and excitement round the tree. WRead moree cooked a full Christmas dinner on the Saturday and there was everything we needed. The children loved the space, the music/games room and the younger ones played in the lovely little Wendy house in the garden. The house was warm and cosy and just lovely for us all. The weather on the Sunday was dry and sunny and we managed a short walk up into the hills - the views were amazing and the sunset in the evening was gorgeous. It's a perfect house for a big family or group gathering - a huge home from home. Hide

My family had an absolutely superb holiday atThe Old Stablesrecently and I can't enthuse about it enough. On arrival, the property seemed so vast, with plenty of room for twelve of us (ages ranging from 2 - 61), and the layout of the bedrooms was just right. It was beautifully clean and well-equipped, and the gardens were stunning. Although we enjoRead moreyed days and half-days out, it was always such a pleasure to return to the house - the children charging off to the Wendy house, or playing hide and seek. The weather was excellent for the whole week - which really helped of course. Nevertheless, if it hadn't been so good, there was plenty to see in the area, and I don't think we would have got "cabin-fever" as the property was so large..................... We'd like to extend our thanks to your company, and of course to the owners, for generously allowing us to use their amazing, interesting, comfortable and homely property. We should love to return at some point, but with two more babies on the way, will we all fit in?! Hide
